August 2018: Our ice cover modeling paper was published online in Inland Waters [link] [pdf] May 2018: I started a new position as the Office of Great Waters Monitoring Coordinator at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. I'm excited about this new opportunity to do meaningful work on the Great Lakes and Mississippi River! May 2018: Water@UW Spring Symposium today - great, diverse group of speed talks, with longer talks focused on scicomm and science storytelling. Great program! April 2018: I attended the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership Convention and presented on updates on our cisco project and gave a poster about the WICCI Climate Change and Inland Lakes workshop. March 2018: Our paper in Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences is online now! [link] [pdf] Jan 2018: I attended the Midwest Fish and Wildlife conference, and presented on my cisco habitat modeling project in a climate change session organized by Olivia LeDee. I had a great time hearing about what other researchers in the Midwest have been working on! Jan 2018: Held the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts, Climate Change and Inland Lakes workshop at Treehaven in Tomahawk, WI. Lots of great speakers during the plenaries, and great breakout sessions on how to adapt to changing climate. Breakouts focused on four themes: Lake Levels, Water Quality, Aquatic Invasive Species, and Fisheries and Native Aquatic Species. Starting to put together the workshop proceedings and other products from the day! Thanks to everyone who helped put it together. Dec 2017: Our morphometry and water temperatures paper is out now! (link) [pdf] Nov 2017: Our paper on how morphometry influences response of water temperatures and stratification to changing climate has been accepted to Hydrology and Earth System Sciences. (link) Oct 2017: Our paper on cumulative oxythermal stress dosage has been accepted to Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. (link) September 2016: Started my new postoc position in the McIntyre lab. August 2016: Successfully defended my dissertation earlier this week. A few forms and a meeting with the graduate school then I'll officially have that PhD! August 2016: The third chapter of my dissertation, titled 'Effects of changing climate on ice cover in three morphometrically different lakes' was accepted to Hydrological Processes (link) [pdf] July 2016: I'm helping the McMahon lab sample Lake Mendota for their GEODES project. May 2016: A new paper in Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (link) about long term and abrupt changes to ice cover and water temperatures in Lake Mendota in response to changing climate is out.
